Adamsonslaw.co.uk are specialists in criminal injury law. If you have been injured by the violence of another and suffered physical or psychological injury then you may be entitled to compensation, which is awarded by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) which is separate to the Courts.
CICA makes an award where the aggressor cannot afford to pay or do not have insurance.
It is essential that you report the incident to the police as soon as possible and cooperate with them as they investigate the crime. To be eligible for an award, the crime should be reported to the police within 48 hours of it happening. A failure to cooperate or act reasonably may result in any award being withheld or reduced in amount. There are other instances were an award may be refused. If the victim has previous criminal convictions or has in some way contributed to their own injuries, then it’s unlikely an award would be granted.
In circumstances where multiple injuries have been suffered, then CICA will utilise a criminal injury calculator where by only the three most serious injuries will be compensated. The most serious injury will be fully compensated whereas the second injury receives 30% compensation and the third receiving 15%.
Adamsons Law have the skill and expertise to ensure you receive maximum compensation and not just the first offer CICA make.
